The Mayonnaise Jar and Coffee

Posted by Sara Chau | Uncategorized | Friday 20 August 2010 12:50 am

When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough,
remember the mayonnaise jar…and the coffee…

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class
began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it
with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

So the professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar
lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students
again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled
up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a
unanimous “yes.”

The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire
contents into the jar, effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.

“Now,” said the professor, as the laughter subsided, ” I want you to recognize that this jar
represents your life.

The golf balls are the important things: God, family, your children, your health, your friends, and
your favorite passions – things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life
would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house, and your car. The sand is
everything else…..the small stuff.

“If you put the sand into the jar first,” he continued, “there is no room for the pebbles or the golf
balls.

The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never
have room for the things that are important to you. Pay attention to the things that are critical to
your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your partner
out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal.
Take care of the things that really matter first…..the golf balls. Set your priorities. The rest is just
sand.”

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented. The professor
smiled.

“I’m glad you asked. It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there’s
always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend.”

From one end to the other

“Bye Bye Cali aka the weather from heaven!” …but i sure am ready to get the fudge out of there.
so the big move is near by, my bf n I are finally moving to Florida…

yup, we’re just gonna up and go… cali was fun for the past 18 months, but im ready to move to another state, ready to play in better games, enjoy prettier beaches… the only bad thing is the weather…scorching hot all of the fucking time, but luckily we got a pool this time… my ass is gonna be in that big tank of water everyday before work.

so i will be driving to Dallas for a few weeks to relax some more (not like taking a month break from poker isnt long enough already) then i will make my second half of the drive from Dallas to Coral Spings, Florida. i probably not gonna update this often for the next few weeks, cuz my only laptop internet access is thro my blackberry (kinda too slow for me) but i will upload pics if i do take any… anyway..

Dear Dallas, is there any chance you’re not gonna hit 100°+ everyday… im kinda a weak sauce toward hot weather now… please don’t melt my skin and makeup!

be grateful

I’m kinda embarrassed to admit it, but i’ve been suffering from dandruff this past whole week.. at first i thought it would just go away on its own… not knowing the cause of it… but these freakin flakes are still on my head..i look like a bum that can’t afford shampoo :/

after trying to google what is wrong with me..i found out that…

Causes of Dandruff: A person can develop dandruff due to several reasons. Some of them are mentioned below.

* Dandruff is mainly caused by a fungus called Mallazesia globosa. This fungus is found floating in the atmosphere and can infect anyone.
* Another reason for dandruff is the excessive use of hair care products, humidity and hormonal imbalance.
* Some dermatologists even correlate stress and a powdery kind of dandruff.
* Over intake of sugar and fats (yah baby.. i love fats n sugar!)
* Excessive exposure to sunlight
* Perspiration
* Genetic problems
* Irregular shampooing and improper washing of scalp

n if you wanna read more about it..here a great link i found

well shit… i cant pinpoint which is the real reason cuz my daily bad routine can easily fall into any of those reasons… but at least i know dandruff has nothing to do with cleanness. n the treatment for it is basically anti-dandruff shampoos and conditioners contain a formulation of mild cleansers and chemicals to treat dandruff. THANK GOD!

anyway.. i went to pick up anti-dandruff shampoo first thing this afternoon, soon, i will be drandruff-free! n nothing’s gonna be in my hair except that —->

so i’ve decided to give this 1 million guaranteed tournament a second try, since its a 5 first starting day event n who the fuck turns 1 million down? not even Oprah… well surprisingly i made it to the second day (yah i know..its been awhile) with 135 players left out of 3300. started the next day 28th in chiplead and ended with zero chip. out in 30th place. yup.. of course i didnt win the tournament…why WOULD I??!!? not much to say.. just another tournament when i couldnt fade the draws, yada.. oh well. but its just another reminder of why i hate tournaments so much now, especially the smaller buy-ins. def not worth the time n effort… n most importantly, i have to deal with those dumb-asses that play in these small tournaments…seriously…

well heres a hand that i had to sweat bfore dinner break..

against
my hand                             his hand

Just cuz you have a badge n a gun doesnt give you the rights to chase after me

a little warm up:

I go to this casino to play poker at least 4 times a week for almost 8 months now, and I’ve gotten my ID checked 78% of the time, it’s very surprising to me that how many new door securities they have each week…

so i went to Commerce casino CA today to play a 1 Million Guaranteed tournament, busto real quick, no hard feelings even though it would’ve been a badbeat jackpot hand if we were playing cash game. anyways… so as i was walkin towards the 10/20 to check out the cash games.. this freakin security kept saying “ma’am, excuse me ma’am” as i ignored him n kept walking..he got closer n closer, so i had no choice but stopped n looked at him…knowing exactly what he wanted…

he said: can i please see your ID
i said: no, im already inside.
he said: well i still need to see your ID
i said: NO. then walked off…

i can see him in the corner of my left eye as i was walking away.. he was calling backups on his walkie and chasing after me at the same time.. then i screamed out Jorge, Julian (the floorman, n the chip runner that see me everyday). i asked them to tell this security to stop breathing down my neck n leave me the fuck alone… they told me to calm down as they were shushing him away… whats worse is that i recognize the security that had checked my ID 2 months ago.. n i know i made an impression on him after giving him an attitude (i blame the attitude on my period). hey dumbass commerce security… do you think i become under-aged after 2 months when i was already old enough, now go harass someone else that has smaller balls than yours.

moving on

as i was typing this blog, my dog raiden came over n licked me. at first i thought to myself awww… you’re so sweet, you want some attention?  then i remember she was licking the toilet earlier… does that mean she loves the toilet too?
